Son of John Wesley and Barbara Jane (nee Bentley) Shillington of Blenheim. The brother of Nellie Elaine and John Harold. A student educated in Blenheim, (three years with the High School Cadets). Attestation: 26/04/1917 at London, ON. age 18 years / 10 months, too 63rd Battery Depot.
Gunner Oral B. Shillington trained with the 63rd. Battery at Petawawa until October when he returned to London, and left London for overseas in December, arriving at Glasco, Scotland, January 1st, 1918. He was sent at once to Witley Camp England to complete his training, and was drafted for France March 26th, 1918. Serving with 60th Battery, 14th Brigade.
Discharged at Toronto June 23rd 1919 due to demobilization.
After the war he studied medicine at Queen’s University Medical School graduating in 1926. He then went on to study at the Clifton Springs Sanitarium in New York. He practiced for a time in Blenheim and then set up practice in Highgate, Kent Co., ON. in 1927. He married Verla (nee White), it is not known if they had children. In 1935 he was living in Sutton, ON.
Dr. Shillington died in 1954 and is buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim, ON.
