Private David Sherman enlisted in the 142nd Battalion at London May 15th 1916 and after a few months training in Canada he left for England where he arrived October 1916 and after a further period of training went to France April 1917 where he served with the 18th Battalion until January 1919 when he returned to England and to Canada March 1919. He took part in a number of engagements including Lens, Hill 70, Paschendaele, Amiens, Arras and so on until Mons in 1918.
Discharged at London March 21st 1919 due to demobilisation.
