Private Joseph Smith Sheldon went overseas on the “Lapland” with the 186th. Battalion March 26th, 1917, training at Bramshott until September 7th, 1917, when he was posted for the Battalion. At Passchendaele he suffered a broken ankle, also trench feet and trench fever, being admitted November 6th. to NO. 13 General Hospital, Boulogne, and to the Ontario Military Hospital, Orpington, England, December 9th, 1917. He returned to Bramshott Camp March 24th, 1918, later going to Witley Camp.
