The Wallaceburg News 14/08/41 reported that Jack along with Reg Crothers and Jim McIntyre made the trip to HMCS Hunter in Windsor to join the RCNVR. Jack was given leave from his training and spent his time in Wallaceburg with his parents.  

The CDN 21/07/44 reported that Mrs. Mary Pelletier of 114 Sandys St., the sister of now Major Jack Sheff  was proceeding to France with the invasion forces. A veteran of WWI jack enlisted in the Provost Corps. In between the wars Jack was a Provincial constable in Chatham, [OPP as it is known today].

The CDN 15/08/44(P) reported he had been made a Major He had served in the Great War and was a Provincial Constable in Chatham between wars. 

It was reported in the CDN 28/08/45 had been promoted from Captain to the rank of Major.

Reported in the CDN 7/12/45(P) arriving from overseas.
