Glenn was born in Mortlack, Saskatchewan on March 5, 1914.  The son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Shaw of Dresden. The brother of Vera. Next of Kin:  Marjorie Shaw.  A Chatham Collegiate Institute graduate before joining the staff of the Chatham Post Office where he was a valued member of the Registered Mail Department.  Cpl. Shaw enlisted with the Canadian Postal Corp in September of 1941 and had recently been transferred to Labrador. CDN 30/07/42.

Served in Canada, Halifax, NS and Goose Bay, Labrador.

In 1943 Glen was stationed in Ottawa where he took up new duties at the Base Post Office. As important as a new post he had become a husband of Miss Ethel Marjorie Cucksey. The DT 7/10/43 reported that a gathering of fifty friends and relatives attended a ‘shower’ for the young couple.  The brother Lloyd of the groom was the Best man.  After the gifts both useful and beautiful, and thanks from the new couple “old time games and music” entertained those attending followed by a “dainty lunch”.

The couple left on a northern wedding trip.

Cpl. Shaw and wife travelled to Ottawa where he joined his new posting and his wife returned to Dresden.

Now Sgt. Shaw, Glenn and his wife called at their parent’s homes. Glenn was being transferred from Hagerville to Halifax, NS. DT 23/22/44. 

Stationed at Halifax, NS. he was on a Christmas furlough with his wife, visiting friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Cucksey of Chatham.

The DT 26/02/42 reported that Pte. Glenn Shaw C.P.C. was stationed at Camp Borden when he and his sister Vera (London), were the weekend guests of their parents. 

Sgt. Shaw and his wife of Port Albert , AW Mildred Shaw stationed at RCAF-Fingal and Vera Shaw of London where at his parents home on weekend leaves. Sgt. Shaw and his wife of Chatham were guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Shaw while on a week-end pass. DT 20/04/44 The DT 12/10/44 reported that Sgt. Shaw of Hagersville and his wife from Chatham, along with Miss Mildred V. Shaw, RCAF(WD) and Miss Vera Shaw of London, ON.  

The DN 19/09/45 reported that Lieutenant Shaw and wife were reported returning to Ottawa after a two week holiday spent at Rondeau Provincial Park and at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Shaw in Dresden.
