The son of Harold and Dorothy Ann Sharpe of Dresden, ON. Prior to the outbreak of war Jack was employed in the Dominion Bank in Dresden. Captain Sharpe was married and had a daughter Rebecca his wife the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Want of Harwich Twsp., Kent Co., ON.
Jack joined the army in 1942, received his training at Three Rivers, PQ., Ipperwash and was on the west Coast with the Oxford Rifles. It was reported that he was a Lieut.
Cpl. Sharpe, his wife and daughter Becca spent a weekend with Jack parents. DT 1/04/43.
The DT 26/08/43 reported 2nd Lieut. Sharpe, an interview at the paper learned that he had been involved in a special course at Three Rivers, PQ. for the last three months. He was then scheduled to report to Ipperwash Camp “for the present”. His wife and daughter were with him.
The CDN 20/12/43 reported Lieut. Sharpe had arrived home from Vernon, BC. He was home for Christmas with his wife and ‘little daughter’ Becky on Inshes Avenue, Chatham.
It was reported that Lieut. Sharpe along with his wife and daughter were returning to the west coat where he would rejoin his Regt. after a Christmas leave with his family in Chatham. CDN 7/01/44. He was reported as oversea in the CDN 23/01/45.
Previous Military Experience: Trained two years with the 2nd Kent Regiment.
After Enlistment, Captain Jack Sharpe served at #12 B.T.C. from July 1942 to April 1943. Cpl. Sharpe, his wife and daughter Becky spent a weekend with Jack parents. DT 1/04/43.
The CDN 4/05/43 reported that Cpl. Sharpe of No.12 BTC had left for Three Rivers, PQ. to take an officer’s training course.

He was sent to Trois Rivieres from April 1943 to August 1943, then to Ipperwash from August 1943 until September 1943. He was transferred to Nanaimo, B.C., Prince George Vernon and Wainwright, Alta. and was with the Oxford Rifles until December 1944. It was reported that Lieut. Sharp along with his wife and daughter were returning to the west coat where he would rejoin his Regt. after a Christmas leave with his family in Chatham. CDN 7/01/44. The CDN 14/09/44 reported that Lieut. Sharpe had been on a three week furlough with his relatives. His wife and daughter Becky accompanied him. Lieut. Sharpe and daughter arrive from the west coast to spend Christmas with his Mother Dorothy. DT 21/12/44 He was reported as overseas in the CDN 23/01/45. He was posted for overseas duty and served as Company Commander with the 6th C.R.T.R. Was attached to the 8th Canadian Re pat Depot until January 1946.
