John enlisted in 1940 with the RCR in London, ON.
He was serving with the RCR in Sicily and then in Italian campaign, where he was slightly wounded in the leg 3/06/44. His mother had been notified of his injury but no details until her son explained he was wounded but “there was nothing to worry about” was received by Elizabeth from her son’s letter. CDN 13/06/44(P)
He has a brother, Roy who is a bugler at No.12 BTC – Chatham. Another brother will be old enough to enlist in July.
The CDN 18/03/43(P) reported “he was now recovering from three months illness having undergoing a serious operation.
Reported returning from overseas duty aboard the vessel Queen Mary docking at New York City. CDN 11/07/45.
