He joined in 1942 in London, ON. He was married and had a young son they were residing  at 87 Pine St., Chatham. 

The CDN 11/09/43 reported that he was overseas in England and was presented an interesting and valuable token by Cpl. Selwood’s uncle. The token consisted of  three feathers, red, white and blue, grouped around a crown and presented to Mack during a visit. “The token was bestowed to the former proud possessor, on Coronation Day when King George VI ascended the thrown of Great Britain.” 

Cpl. Selwood had enjoyed the seven-day leave and is well pleased with the army life overseas.
