Born in 1920 at Regina, Sask., the son of Pauline and John Sass of Harwich Twsp., Kent Co., ON. Married to Grace (nee Pollard) and they had on child and were living in London, ON., while George was oversea.

A veteran of four years oversea, he saw service in France, Holland, Belgium and Germany with the Highland  Light Infantry. Reported returning to Canada from overseas duty aboard the troopship “Pasteur” expect to dock at Quebec City on the 22nd of September 1945. CDN 20/09/45. It was reported that George was confined to hospital in Quebec City upon arrival in Cnaada, no reason was given, he was expected to be released soon to be reunited with his family.
