The son of Joseph Sands. The brother of Roslyn E. (KIA 14/04/45) while serving in Holland with the Essex Scottish and Clayton W. A49634 (WIA), another brother came of age in 1945 and was training in Manitoba.
Claude enlisted in 1939, a week after Canada declared War on Germany. He went overseas in 1940. The WN 24/10/40 reported that ‘Claudy’ was home from Camp Petewawa on a week-end leave. All three brothers would enlist before wars end.
The WN 31/05/45 reported that Claude arrived home on 25 May, 1945.
