Resident Walpole Island

Regimental number: 845348 Reference:  RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 8625 – 58,  Item #: 212260 PDF: B8625-S058. Date of Birth 15/09/1876 at Walpole Island, ON. Son of Widow Mary Kenonahgau Sampson  of Walpole Island.

A single, trapper living on Walpole Island. Age: 40, but some documents disclose that he might have been much older (possibly in his early 50’s), Complexion, eyes, hair: Dark, Brown, Black

Attestation: 30/03/1916 at Walpole Island to  with the 149th . No. 2 Forestry. Found in “No Return Ticket” by A. Mann.     

Served with the B. Co. Lambtons 149 and transferred to Forestry Depot M D No.1.  He served in Canada.  In July 1917, he complained of pain in the front of his chest.  He was very short of breath, and he was losing weight and became easily fatigued.

September 14, 1917 he was hospitalized in the London Military Hospital and transferred to the Byron Sanatorium – Victoria – London Ontario for suspected Pulmonary Tuberculosis and was discharged two months later.  The cause for his illness was “active service conditions”.

Earnings: Isaac vowed to send $25.00 per month to his mother, as she was a widow and she had no other sons to support her.

Discharge: Discharged from the 149th Bn F-Unit M H C C for being medically unfit for service.
