After training at various camps across the Dominion he arrived overseas in March 1943, attached to the Essex Scottish Regiment. He went into action at the time of D-Day operations and fought in France, Belgium and Holland.
Pte. living at 36 Kendall St., Chatham, ON. The KCFA 19/07/45 reported that the hospital ship Letitia had docked at Halifax NS., with six Kent County boys who might be going to hospital in London rather their homes. Pte. Ryan was on the list.
