Born in England 1917 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted W. Russell 169 Lacroix St., Chatham, ON.  (Army overseas). William enlisted with the RCAF in 1940.

William married Lila May (nee Cushman) of Chatham at Christ Church, Chatham, ON. in March of 1942. After the ceremony the couple went on their honeymoon and then returned to Trenton, ON. where William was stationed. CDN 10/03/42. Lila May was residing at 91 Inshes Avenue in Chatham.   The CDN 29/06/43 reported that her husband had arrived in North Africa, he had been in England since May of 1942. 

Corporal Russell was in the Air Force five years, three and a half of which were spent overseas, where he served in England in 1942 and Africa in 1943. Promoted to Sergeant.

Date of Discharge. September 11, 1945
