Born in Tilbury, ON. and graduated from the Separate School. After graduation he was employed by the Canadian Top & Body Co and later with an industrial firm in Windsor. Wilfred enlisted in August of 1942 and took his basic training in Chatham, ON. and in Calgary, AL. He went oversea in March of 1943 and went to Normandy one week after D-Day, he had been recuperating in hospital from pneumonia before the invasion.

He serve in France and Holland, in a letter to his parents he said he was like a “travelling sales- man. At the time his Mention In Dispaches was reported in the CDN 31/01/45, it was not know for which action he was being mentioned.

Wilfred had a brother Leo also serving in the army.
