Born in Chatham, ON. in 1922 the son of Mr H. R. and Mermine Rowden (mother) and was living at 30 ½ King St. West, Chatham. Prior to his enlistment Donald was employed at Chatco Steel Company in Chatham
Donald enlisted in 1942 with the RCE, trained as a welder at Berryfield. Donald was home on a weekend leave before returning to London, ON. CDN 28/04/42 Don went overseas in December of 1942 with the RCOC. He served overseas in Sicily, Italy, France and Holland. Donald was burned about the face as a result of an accident the CDN 3/03/45 reported that his parents had received information that he was hospitalized in Italy. Donald had been working as a welder with an armoured unit. The CDN 31/12/45 reported that he returned to Canada aboard the S. S. Mauretania. Next of Kin: H. R. He was discharged from the army in January of 1946. He was reported returning from overseas aboard the S.S. Mauretania in the CDN 3/01/46.
