Resident Wallaceburg

Born 22/07/22, in Wallaceburg, ON. Son of Charles and Mabel Rose of 40 Wall St., Wallaceburg, ON., brother of Allan and Willam C.   He received his education at Central School, Wallaceburg. Prior to his enlistment he was employed at the Dominions Glass Co.  

Ronald enlisted in the Army 2 ½ years ago. He joined the 48th Light Anti-Aircraft Battery RCA. And served in Newfoundland for 18 months. He was sent overseas in July of 1944 as a re-enforcement going to the Black Watch. CDN 7/09/44

Ronald was wounded in the battle for Cean, France, hit in the leg by shrapnel and was evacuated to England when he developed gangrene but was saved by the use of penicillin. The Wallaceburg News reported that Ronald was at Leavesden General Hospital in England. Ronald was 22 years old in 1944.

Reported returned home. CDN 7/05/45 and WN 10/05/45.  He was reported in the Wallaceburg News as serving overseas. WN-date unknown
