Date of Birth 19/08/1898 at Kent Bridge, Kent Co., ON. son of John Albert and Sarah Axford Ronson of Wallaceburg, ON. where Arthur was living; brother of Pte. John Allison [127591, reported recovering from wounds in England], a brother Bruce living in Glenmeyer, ON. and two at home George and Glenn. Arthur also had three sisters at home Edna, Myrtle and Margaret. He was a stenographer at a very young age.
Arthur was very good at school passing his Entrance at the age of 10 years ol at the age of 13 years he was a clerk at the Canadian Express Co. in Chatham. He was on the staff of the Dominion Sugar Co. for three years. After that he was employed by the Hydro & Water Works before enlisting. Member of 24th Kent Regt. Attestation: 4/10/1915 at London, ON. His actual age at enlistment was 17 years 1 month, but they took him anyway. CDP 26/03/1917.
Arthur enlisted in London, ON. with the 71st Battalon as a Buglar. Attestation 4/10/1015, age 18 years, 6 months and 2 days. Complexion: Dark, Eyes: Brown, Hair Black. He had a scar on his knuckle of left thumb. His medical was completed 20/10/15 to the 71st Batt.
He departed Canada 29/03/1, from Halifax, NS. aboard the S. S. Olympic 1/04/16. Landing in England 11/04/16. Due to his background he was designated an “Orderly”. Upon request he was reduced to a Private to go to France 11/08/16 and he entered the trenches 21/08/16.
Arthur was slightly wounded 19/11/16 and was discharged in France 20/12/16. In less than a month he would be on active service at the front.
Pte. Ronson was sent to France at La Havre 12/08/16.
Pte. Ronson he was treated at No.12 Cdn. Field Ambulance 21/11/16 transferred to:
2nd 1st Highland Field Hospital 27/11/16 for a GSW to the right foot and released
He would be reported as being missing in action 16/03/17 and was reported KIA 1/03/17. It was noted that that his commanding officer Major Langstaff was also KIA on that date.
