The son of Enos and Martha Rolston; his father was living in Dresden and his mother was residing at 632 2nd. St, South, Kenora, ON. He also had a sister Miss Irene Rolston. Both Earl and sister Irene were living at 2617 Younge St., Toronto, ON.

As a trade Earl was a Printer’s Helper in Toronto. He had been a member of the 12th York Rangers. He also had private insurance.

He enlisted 22/01/1917 at Toronto, ON., age 18 yrs. 3 mths. A private. Height: 5’ 8”; Complexion: Dark, Eyes: Brown, Hair: Dark Drown. He had a mole right of neck, Another mole back of upper left arm. Vision 6/6 both eyes. From his medical 22/01/17 at Toronto. 

Earl departed Canada from St. John, NB. He sailed aboard the S.S. Missanabie 16/02/17 arriving in England 27/03/17. He landed in France (Field) 29/03/17. 

It was not unusual that new recruits might have illness as was Earl’s case. 

13/06/17 MYD Lung, admitted to No. 26 General Hospital.
