The son of Mr. and Mrs. John Robinson of 237 Park Avenue. He attended Queen Mary Public School.  Bill had a sister Pat.  Bill was a former carrier for the Chatham Daily News.

Previous Military Experience: Trained with the 2nd Kent Regiment.

Bill enlisted when he was eighteen years old.  In December of 1942 Bill was attached to the 30th Reconnaissance Battalion training in Windsor, London,  stationed at Dundurn, SK. and Camp Borden. Bill was home on a two week furlough to see his family. CDN 14/12/42    He was sent overseas in July of 1943 with the 1st Hussars. In his first letter home Bill told of visiting Scotland and how it looked so peaceful and beautiful scenery made him forget about the war.  

After enlistment, Trooper William Robertson trained at Dundurn, Sask., Camp Borden, Windsor and London, Ont. He went overseas in July 1943 and arrived in France shortly after D-Day and served in France, Belgium and Holland attached to the First Hussars. He was wounded in action.
