The son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Roberts of Gray St., Chatham. First enlisted in the 1st Kent Regt. attaining the rank of Lieutenant. Lieut. E. A. Roberts was reported home on a short leave from his duties with the First Kents stationed at Niagara-on-the-Lake. CDN 19/02/42.

It was reported in the CDN 8/10/ unknown that Lieut. Roberts had married Miss Evelyn Cadotte Reg.N. in the vestry of St. Mary’s Cathedral on Oct. 3 in Halifax, NS., where Lieut. Roberts was stationed. After the service the couple left on a “short motor trip”.

The bride was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cadotte of Dover Twsp, Kent Co., ON.  The CDN 21/12/44 reported that Capt. Roberts was leaving Ottawa for Chatham to spend Christmas with his wife and baby son.

He was reported promoted to the rank of Major with the RCASC now stationed in Ottawa. (CDN 9/05/45(P).

Previous Military Experience: Served with the Kent Regiment (MG)

Trained at Chatham, London, Niagara-on-the-Lake, New Westminster and Terrace. Transferred to the R.C.A.S.C. and was stationed at Winnipeg, Ottawa and Montreal. Promoted to the rank of Major.
