Born 7/04/1895 in Huffman’s Corners, Harwich Twsp., Kent County, ON., (his attestation record shows Ridgetown), the son of William and Bertha May (nee Huffman) Riseborough. He was educated in Blenheim and at the Chatham Collegiate Institute before going to the University of Toronto where he obtained his M.B. in 1918 and his M.D. in 1919. Dr. Risebourgh would settle in Chatham, ON., eventually in 1919.

Dr. Riseborough enlisted in the CAMC at Toronto 29/04/1918, to CAMC Training Depot No. 2 (he had two years of C.O.T.C.) prior to his enlistment. He was assigned to the position of Medical Officer (MO.) at the Hamilton, ON. Depot Battalion. He was transferred from there to the Machine Gun Section at Niagara-on-the Lake, ON. as the MO.

In August of 1918 Lieutenant Risebourough was sent overseas posted to the Imperial Hospital at Rhyl, North Wales, from there transferred to Shorncliffe, Training Depot CAMC and after some time transferred to A.D.M.S. in London, England for Medical Board duty. Captain Riseborough would be returned to Canada in August of 1919 and posted to the reserves with demobilization 28/08/1919.

After establishing his practice in Chatham he married Edna Marion (nee Richards) 30/04/1923. Dr. Riseborough managed the Chatham Hockey Club and was a member of the Shriners while in Chatham. He would close his practice in July of 1928 and moved to Philadelphia to study Urology and from there to Detroit where he practiced until his retirement.

Dr. Ernest C. Risebourgh passed away 3/12/1958 and is buried with his wife (03/1980) in Maple Leaf Cemetery in Chatham, ON.
