Stationed at Brandon, MB. John was home on a two week furlough to visit his family in Charing Cross, Kent Co., ON. CDN 29/06/42 He was reported returning in the CDN 10/07/42 it was reported in the CDN 30/10/42 on a weekend furlough to see his wife and family before he took up training in St. Thomas, ON. John, still training at RCAF St.Thomas was was home with the family on Charing Cross Road on a Christmas furlough. CDN 24/12/42.

Previous Military Experience: Trained with the 2nd Kent Regiment

Served in Canada after enlistment.

The CDN 29/12/43 reported that Cpl. Rhodes returned to St. Thomas after spending his Christmas with Mrs. Rhodes and family at their Charing Cross road home. 

The CDN 17/07/44 reported that LAC Rhodes was on a weeks furlough from RCAF-St Thomas with Mrs. Rhodes and family at Erieau.  

In December of 1944 john then stationed on the west coast was on a Christmas furlough with his wife and children on Charring Cross Road. CDN 14/12/44 The CDN 27/12/44 reported that John was returning to the west coast after spending Christmas at home.
