Reynolds, Douglas Lloyd

 

Born 16/09/1921 in Blenheim, ON.,  the son of Roy and Gertrude ‘Gertie’ (nee Hawley) Reynolds of 110 Inshes Ave., Chatham, ON. The brother of Cameron Bryce and Jack, both served overseas and returned to Canada. The husband of Marie Josephine (nee Bryne); she resided in Dunnville during the war years.     

Douglas enlisted in November of 1942.  

Douglas trained as an aerial mechanic, he served one year overseas on active service. 

Served as an aerial mechanic with the rank of LAC Spent one year overseas.

Douglas enlisted in November of 1942. The CDN 1/05/44 reported Douglas had been on a seven days leave and was returning to RCAF-Dunnville.  Douglas was stationed at RCAF-Charlottetown, PEI, he along with his wife from Dunnville arrived in Chatham on a Christmas furlough stay at his parents Mr. and Mrs. R. Reynolds of  Inshes Ave. CDN 19/12/44  Douglas trained as an air mechanic.  Douglas served one year overseas.  While overseas Gertrude resided in Dunnville.

Date of Discharge: May 1946 – After the war he joined the Chatham Police Force as a Constable. 

Douglas died 30/12/1947 and is buried at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, ON.

Douglas died 30/12/1947 in the line of duty from a brutal beating at the hands of a man named Whaley.  Douglas is buried at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, ON.
