Corporal Verne Hillier Reid was a veterinarian surgeon from Wheatley, ON. In December 1943 he joined the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada.

Training at Camp Borden, ON. Reported home on a weekend leave. CDN 22/03/44.

He went overseas in September 1944 and joined the fighting in Holland. They then advanced into Germany and crossed the Ems River in April 1945. He was Killed in action April 18, 1945. He is buried in Holten Canadian War Cemetery in Holland.
