Private Reid went overseas with the Forestry Corps in Aug. 1917, serving in Scotland. While serving there he was taken ill and in Nov. was operated on for hernia, later bronchitis set in and he was invalided to Canada in Apr. 1918 and transferred to the 1st battalion Can. Garrison Regiment at London.
In Oct. 1918 he contracted influenza and later pneumonia for which he died Oct. 27, 1918.
