John Reeve Arthur’s father received the Memorial Scroll 18/10/21 and the Memorial Plaque 10/02/22.

“Young Surveyor – Reported Missing”.  Chatham, 28/0616.

Arthur Reeve, brother of of Murray Reeve, a Lawyer, of the firm of Houston & Clark of this city is officially reported to have been missing from 5 June, according to information receive by the family.

At the outbreak of the war he was engaged with a party of Dominion surveyors, working in New Ontario leaving subsequently from Winnipeg, here he qualified as a Lieutenant. Not having received a commission two months after qualifying as an officer he enlisted as a private in the mounted battalion at Port Arthur. 

The last word received from the soldier was that he was about to leave to the trenches to take a special course in bomb-throwing.
