His mother reported her only son was 18yrs. and had a wife and a baby boy. His mother contacted the British Council in Detroit. According to his mother her son enlisted without her knowledge and that of his wife. The British Council wanted to obtain the “Young man’s discharge so he can return to his wife and child in Ontario.” 11 Dec, 1915 “I strongly recommended that the man/boy in question be discharged. “A minor American citizen” 13th Dec. 1915 –Discharged from the Cdn. Army.
18/12/15 – “The above named, appears to have taken French leave. He has been absent from his duties since the 8th instant.” – He was granted leave 16/06/17. Pardoned under nott Released 20/12/19.

27th of Sept. 1916 – His mother had a newspaper article about the poor treatment of her son with an article in the Detroit News 15/12/15. Letters went to Canada War HQ., Oscar B. Mast – Mayor of Detroit. He did ship out for Christmas 1918.
