Unit # 5th Canadian Armoured Division

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Bryson Rankin of Kent Co., husband of Helen Rankin (CWAC0. Prior to the war Liet.-Col. Rankin was an accountant when he enlisted the 17th of September, 1939; at the time he was likely living in Saskatchewan. Glen returned to Canada in November of 1941 returning oversea again in June of 1942. It was well serving in Holland in March and April of 1945 that Liet-Col. Rankin serving with Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) won his DSO. His citation reads “Lt. Col.

Rankin has displayed initiative and fighting spirit, has brought honour to the corps of the artillery and 5 Canadian Armoured Division” He was gazetted 11/10/45. (pg. 5003). CDN 25/09/45.
