Unit # Belgium Army

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Ramaut of North Buxton. Frank came to the area as a young boy, attended school at S.S. No. 13 Raleigh Twsp. He received his training with the Belgium Army in Canada before going overseas in 1941 for additional training there. Since D-Day Frank saw action with the 1st Field Battery, “in which he distinguished himself in October of 1944.

Frank was awarded the L’Ordre de la Brigade for his actions while in combat. The citation reads:

“Pte. Frank Ramaut took part in every action of his field artillery battery and especially distinguished himself during the battles of Beuzeville, Zantfort and Wessem. During these actions in forward line with the motorized units he showed great courage and care for constant help to the infantry.
