Born in 1919 at Edmonton, England, the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Radford of Raleigh St., Chatham. The husband of Barbara (nee McLeod) of 198 Raleigh St., Chatham, ON.
Sidney Radford was stationed at Jarvis, No. 5 B & G (Bombing & Gunnery) RCAF and stationed at Defoe, SASK. for three years. It was reported in the CDN 16/06/42 that Sergeant Radford had been badly burnt about the face and eyes in a accident while stationed at Defoe SK. Sidney had recently been home to to visit his parents of the River Road, Raleigh Twsp., Kent Co. Sidney also served at Greenwood NS. where he was an Aero Engine Mechanic. In February of 1945 he arrived home on furlough from Halifax, NS. Discharged from the RCAF 17/09/45. He was promoted to Flight Sergeant and transferred to Greenwood, N.S. where he served as an aero engine mechanic. He received the British Empire medal.
