Regimental number: 6734 Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 8058 – 19, Item: 594487, PDF:- B8058. Date of Birth 27/09/1874. N of K: William Joseph Flynn of Hartford City, Indiana, USA. Married, Ottawa ILL., USA. Mrs. James Flunn, Hartford City, Indiana, USA. A trade as a Glass Blower, likely working in Wallceburg.   Attestation: 18/09/1914 to 1st Bn. CEF. Connected with the 24th Kent Regt. 1914.  A glass-blower (single) perhaps working at Glass plant in Wallaceburg.  There is no other information on the attestation papers, nothing on side two other than “1915” and it is not signed?  Reported returned to Wallaceburg.  WJ 30/09/1915.

Age: 39 yrs.  Height: 5’ 9”, Girth: 36”, Weight 150 #; Complexion: Reddish, Eyes: Blue, Hair: Sandy. He had a dark scaly patch on front of right leg. A Roman Catholic. Considered “Fit” 31/09/14 at Valcarter Camp 22/09/14. Eventually would be classified “Medically Unfit.  He would fall to Influenza 16/11/14 to 24/11/14.Influenza 16/11/14

Sailed from Quebec – S.S. Laurentic 4/10/16.

24/06/15 was reported in a French Hospital for a GSW in his left arm. After the healing had progressed he went to a Conv. Camp at La Havre 21/06/15 where he contacted with Influenza. OC to 3rd Gen. BASE 16/07/15 now at Base. Transferred to the UK. 1/07/15.  

1st. Bn. Inf. Theatre: FRANCE – at Wallaceburg – Casualties.. 26/ 09/15 to 22/10/15 from 1st to 9th Bn. 21/06/15 – !st Gen. Hosp., to La Havre – Etretat GSW – Left Arm 16/07/15 at 3rd Gen. Base. SOS TO Canada,  5/09/15. The shrapnel in left forearm, with damage to various – permanent 

He was discharged at Hamilton, ON. with the 21st Regt. Service from 20/11/15 to 25/08/17 

He was Disabled due to Varicosity of leg veins. Old and painful scars on left shin (2) Shrapnel wound in the left forearm. He was advised permanent home light duty and lower.  

Reported returned to Wallaceburg. WJ 30/09/1915 

James Rabbitt – passed away 4/05/1943 (649-R-438).
