Corporal Vaughan R Purser enlisted at Chatham Oct 15th, 1915 in the 70th Batt and transferred to 4th Div Cyclist Coy in Toronto March 15th, 1916. He left for England April 25th, 1916 and stationed at Chiseldon Camp, Wilts. He then proceeded to France in April 1917 and served on Lens front from May 1st until Oct 12th 1917 wherre he took part in the main offensives during that period including Lens Electric Works, and Hill 70.
He was moved to Belgium Oct 12th, 1917 for the Passendaele offensive, and returned to the Lens front Nov 20th, 1917. He was transferred to 7th Canadian Area Employment Coy March 31 1918 and then moved to the Somme front Aug 1918 (Amiens offensive returned to Arras front Aug 27th 1918)and to Valenciennes Nov 11th 1918 ( Armistice signed )
Vaughan Purser returned to General Base Etaples for demobilization Jan 20th, 1919. and left France on Feb 22, 1919 for England. He left England March 29th, 1919.
Discharged in London April 8th 1919 due to demobilization,.
