Private Pole trained at Sarcee Camp, Calgary with the 194th battalion, going overseas in Oct. 1916.
He crossed to France in the spring of 1917, and Aug. 5, was wounded and gassed and returned to England for hospital treatment.
Upon recovery, he continued training with the 21st Reserve Battalion, Bramshott.
He again returned to France and was attached to the 10th battalion where he served until Sept. 1, 1918 when he was killed in action.
