The son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy G. Piggott of Chatham, ON. Major Piggott was married to Katherine G. (nee McVean) and resided at 32 Lacroix St., Chatham.
In January of 1942 Lieut. Piggott was returning, along with Captain Ross Carter to rejoin the First Kents, then stationed at Niagara Falls, after a short leave in Chatham. It was reported in the CDN 18/06/42 that Captain Piggott was spending a short leave at his home with his wife. Lieutenant Piggott was promoted to the rank of Captain in 1942. He took a Company Commander’s course at R.M.C. and proceeded to Australia with a special party of Canadian Officers being trained in the art of Jungle fighting.
He served with the Second 7th Battalion of the Australian Army and was in command of a company of that Unit when the regiment landed at New Guinea. He returned to Canada and was again attached to the Kent Regiment, and received his Majority. Major Piggott appeared on a list of Canadian officers attached to the Australian forces. The officers underwent a course in jungle warfare and would later be assigned to fighting units to gain battle experience in the Pacific area. CDN 30/03/44

Piggott was serving in the Pacific with the Australians.
Captain Piggott was reported serving with a special party of Canadian officers in Australia and the Phillippines, being trained “in the art of of jungle fighting. He was going to spend a short leave with his parents before continuing in his army duties.CDN 9/11/44(P) Capt. Piggott had been home on Lacroix st., Chatham spending a few weeks with his wife before leaving for London, CDN 14/12/44.
The CDN 10/01/45 reported that Capt Piggott had spent a few weeks in Chatham with his wife. He took his departure for the west coast to join the Kent Regt. Mrs. Piggott accompanied her husband to Toronto, where she remained for a few days.
Major Piggott has spent some time in the Pacific theatre of war and had returned to British Columbia to take up his post with the 1st Kent Regiment. CDN 10/02/45(P).
