Previous Military Experience: Served three years with Garrison Artillery.
Charles enlisted with the First Kent Regt. and in February of 1942 he was stationed at Niagara-on-the Lake when he was reported home on a two day leave to see his parents. CDN 3/02/42
In May of 1942, still with the Kent Regt. (Active) he was stationed at New Westminister, BC. when he was visiting his parents on a “couple of weeks” furlough. CDN 23/05/42
He went overseas in 1943 and had been in action in North Africa and in Italy since December of 1943. The CDN 29/ 05/43 reported that Pte. Piggott was overseas. He went overseas in 1943 and had been in action in North Africa in Italy since December of 1943.
He was reported to have arrived in England on furlough CDN 6/02/45. Charles was reported arriving back in Canada in the CDN 7/03/45. A photo of “Chuck” with his parents appeared in the CDN 10/03/45 welcoming him home.
Served four years. Promoted to Sergeant and received the C.V.S. medal. Was in a motorcycle accident and has disability from right leg.
