Born 1/09/1916 in Blenheim, ON. The son of Wesley G. and Vera M. (nee Johnson) Pickering. The Watson is from his maternal grandfather’s first name. His father was a store keeper in Blenheim, ON. Beside John the had a brother Frederick Herbert born in 1918 but passed away in October of 1919, buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim. John attended Blenheim Public school and Blenheim High School and from there attended Queen’s University, Kingston where he graduated M.D in 1941.

Dr. Pickering married Mary Jean MacDonald after his graduation and the couple moved to British Columbia. It was while in BC that Dr. Pickering enlisted 11/11/45 with the 9th Armoured Regt. in the Canadian Army and he served overseas with the British Columbia Dragoons. He was stationed for a time in Veendom, Holland.

In 1946 Dr. Pickering and wife moved to Blenheim, ON. and the bottom floor of their house at 7 Chatham St. was for his practice. In 1956 he would sell his practice to Dr. Howard Rees. The couple would then move to Oshawa, ON where he continued to practice medicine.

Dr. Pickering died 28 June, 1968, Mrs Pickering died in May of 2010. They are buried at Evergreen Cemetery. The Pickering would have four children Mary Jean, Randi, John and Susan.
