The son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Phipps of 126  Inches Avenue, Chatham, ON. Brother of Charles Robert B135783. 

William enlisted in January 1943 at the age of 20. CDN 26/01/45.

William Phipps served mainly on Cruisers. He was on overseas duty two years. He sailed from Scapaflow to Russia on the Arctic Patrol for nine months and was in the Invasion and on a minesweeper in the English Channel to the Mediterranean. Received the usual ribbons and decorations.

Date of Discharge: September 3, 1945

 

William passed away 8 September, 2004 at the age of 79 years of age.
