A labourer. Member of 24th Kent Regt., 10 years service with Essex Regt. (UK) in India. Attestation: 22/10/1914 @ Chatham, ON. Reported in the Sgt. reported to the Second Contingent. CDP 28/11/ 14. Invalided home 26/06/1916 wounded in the ankle by shrapnel shot going into the trenches.

Sergeant John F. Perrin sailed for overseas May 19th, 1915, and after training at East Sandling proceeded to France September 15th, 1915.

At Messines, Belguim, he received a serious foot wound and fractured ankle and was admitted to Hospital February 25th, 1915.

After treatment in France and England he was returned to Canada, arriving in London, Ontario, July 4th, 1916. The foot wound proved such as to cause permanent lameness, and being unfit for further overseas service he transferred to the Forestry Battalion, Windsor, as recruiting assistant.
