Private Walter Lee Pelett left Halifax for overseas April 21st, 1916, with the 70th Battalion, and after training at Shorncliffe proceeded to France May 23rd, 1916, to the 19th Battalion.
At the Ypres Salient August 18th, 1916, he was shell shocked and received a gunshot wound to the head and was admitted to Hazelbrook C.C.S. August 20th.
He was transferred August 24th to the 13th General Hospital, Boulogne, to the 4th Northern General Hospital, Lincoln, England, September 1st, to Epson Convalescent Hospital November 1st, to Shoreham November 18th.
Private Pelett then went to the Canadian Garrison Duty Depot, Hastings, November 28th, and reported for duty at the Army Post Office, London, England,January 9th,1917, where he served until January 25th, 1919.
He embarked for Canada February 19th, 1919, arriving at Halifax March 1st, 1919, and reported to the Western Ontario Military Hospital March 18th. He was sent to the Military Convalescent Hospital, Toronto, for nerve treatment; was boarded and received his discharge from hospital April 14th, 1919.
Private Walter Lee Pelett received his discharge April 19th, 1919, being unfit for further military service.
