He had been in the Navy for four years spending Christmas of 1942 in the Mediteranean. He had served on two frigates, two corvettes and a minesweeper. The life of a sailor must have agreed with him.

Donald appeared in a CDN 25/06/45(P) along with CPO. Dick Payne after volunteering for duty in the Pacific.
