Pte. William Peet left for overseas with the 1st Contingent September 29th, 1914, and trained at Salisbury Plains. He crossed to France February 8th, 1915, with the 1st Battalion. At the Battle of St. Julien April 23rd, 1915, he received wounds in the thigh, was admitted to hospital in Boulogne, and three weeks later to hospital in Lester, England. After three months convalescence in Nottingham he was sent to train with the 9th Reserve Battalion at Lower Dibgate, then to the 36th Reserve Battalion at West Sandling, but being unfit for active service was returned to Canada December 15th, 1915.
