Pte. Norman H. Peace sailed for England six weeks after enlistment, and after completing his course of training, crossed to France March 31st, 1916. He was actively engaged in trench warfare until rendered unfit for further military service by being struck at the base of the spine with shell casing. He spent from June 26th, 1916, to January 25th, 1917, in various hospitals and Convalescent homes in France, England and Canada.

Pte. Norman H. Peace was given his honorable discharge January 25th, 1917, from the Spadina Military Convalescent Home, Toronto, being unfit for further military service.
