Sapper James M. Patterson left Halifax on the “S.S.Baltic” May 18th, 1916, training at Shorncliffe until August 1916, when he was posted to the Pay Office, London, being too old for service in France. He served here until May 1917, when due to serious heart trouble he was admitted to the 1st General Hospital, Chelsea, thence to Uxbridge Convalescent Home, and was returned to Canada in June 1917.
Sapper James M. Patterson was discharged November 30th, 1917, as medically unfit for further military service.
