From Wallaceburg, ON The son of the late Arthur James and his wife Flora Esther of Electric, ON., Dover Twsp., Kent Co. the brother of Dorthy (Fernley), Gertrude (Smith), Pearl (Cooper) and Kenneth. The husband of Betty (nee Greene – a warbride), the son of Lorraine (Heuvelmans) and Robert.
Pte. Parrish went overseas with the 1st Divisional Supply Column RCASC in December 1939. He was in France in June of 1940 during the German invasion and was evacuated with the Canadians from Brest, France.
He served in England with the Canadian Army until June of 1943landing in Sicily on 13 July 1943. He served in the capture of Sicily and the invasion of Italy until the end of the Canadian campaign there.
Leaving Italy with the First Canadian Corpin March of 1945, disibarking at Marseilles they proceeded to Belgium. He served as a Fitter M.V. [military vehicles] in the Brigade Workshops.
He was in Scotland in April 1945 and married Miss Betty Greene of Ayrshire and then he returned to Canada. CDN 5/06/45(P).
After the war Floyd would be the manager of the Beaver Lumber.
Floyd passed away 2 January, 1994 at the age of 81 years old.
