John enlisted with the 1st Hussars of London in 1939 and went overseas in October of 1941. He was engaged in all theatres of war with the 1st Hussars. Arrived from overseas on S. S. “Louis Pasteur” CDN 1/09/45. Arrived in Thamesville 4 Sept. 1945, met by his sister Mrs. Frank Pearson who drove him to his mother home. CDN 4/09/45.
