Trained for two years in Boys Brigade reaching the rank of Corporal.
Private Harry Parker enlisted at London, 11th May, 1915 in 34 Batt and trained at London. He left for England Oct 1915 and was stationed at Bramshott and Shorncliffe for training in 23rd Res.
He crossed to France May 5th, 1916 and joined 1st div at Ypres and remained there until that unit moved to the Somme Aug 1916. There, he was wounde in August and was sent to Gen Hospital at Boulogne, from there to England to 3rd Gen Hospital at Oxford, and convalesced at Epsom.
After recovering he went to Bramshott, where he was transferred to 9th Res Batt and from that unit to the 5th Railway Troops. In June 1917 he again crossed to France and was at Arras and Bapaume and remained there 11 months building railways.
In May 1918 he was taken ill with trench fever and sent to England to Hospital at Epsom where he remained until convalescent. He rejoined his unit in September at Purfleet and trained for 30 days and was then transferred the P.T.B.F. School at Aldershot. After completing his course he was promoted to Corporal and sent back to his unit at Purfleet, Left for Canada Feb 1919.
Discharged 11th March, 1919 in London due to demobilization.
