Son of Wilfred and Marie Ouellette, of the Foster Block on Queen St., Tilbury, Ontario. George was born in Tilbury 15/10/1923 and was educated at St. Francis Separate School. Prior to his enlistment George was an industrial worker in Tilbury and Windsor. He was twenty-one years old when he enlisted.
He enlisted in March of 1943, taking basic training in Chatham, ON. at No.12 BTC. , and advanced training at Camp Ipperwash, ON., he suffered a knee injury during his training and was hospitalized for treatment..
George went overseas in October 1943. He was first wounded in August of 1943 a GSW to the thigh, being a flesh wound he returned quickly to active service. His parents received notice that George had been wounded a second time as reported in the CDN 6/11/44, a letter was received saying that he was a casualty on 26 October with the assurance of “word to follow when the nature and extent the the wounds were available.”
Age: 21, DOW – Date of Death: 26/10/1944, in Holland.
