The brother of James, of the Chatham Post Office, he had two sisters, Mrs. Fox of Jeanette’s Creek and Mrs. T. L. McConnell of Halifax, NS . James was notified that his brother had been WIA in Italy. “Sincerely regret to inform you that Sgt. Frank Leslie Ost was officially reported wounded in action on 18th December. Nature of his wounds are not yet available. Further information follows when received.”
Sgt. Ost was “prominent in the business life of the city” Enlisted in the First Kents. He arrived in England transferring to the RCR, when he was wounded in Italy.

History After Enlistment Frank Leslie Ost served in Canada until May 1943 when he was transferred to another unit and went overseas. Promoted to the rank of Company Sergeant Major and received the 1939-45 Star; the Italy Star; the Defence Medal and the C.V.S.M.
