Married to Mary Jane (nee Ellis), the father of Fred and Charles William Ernest. Charles and Jane adopted four daughters Wendy, Joan, Charlene ‘Ginger’ and Rosemary. The family lived at 32 Grant St., Chatham, ON.

Originally enlisted as Charles Martin, he didn’t like the name Valentine and after has training at Mont Hope, PQ.  He was called into the Commanding Officer’s office, discharged and re-enlisted with his proper name.

His mother Mrs. O. Osman, Miss Betty Reaume and her parents attended the ‘Wings Parade’ at RCAF-Fingal. when Charles received his Wings.   

Due to a hearing problem he never served overseas.

After the war Charles worked at McKeough & Sons. He then moved to a small farm in Raleigh Twsp, but moved back to Chatham again.

Charles passed away in 1972.
