The son of George and Nets (nee Kivell) Osbourne. Charles was born in Howard Twsp., the brother of Berince (McClarty), Lena (Pickering), Hazel (Price), Mildred (Kivell), Margaret (Scaman), Kathy (Huiting), Harold and Raymond. The husband of Margaret (nee Bilton), the father of Kenneth S. McDonald and Wally (1986).

Charles passed away Friday, 27 March, 1987 at Four Corners hospital, Newbury, ON. at the age of 60 years. Internment at Mayhew-Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Thamesville, ON. CDN-Obit 30/03/1987, Janet V.

 

The CDN 21/11/45 reported that Charles along with John Goodman had enlisted together at HMCS Hunter in Windsor, ON. and had been separated for eleven months before meeting again at HMCS Cornwallis, NS. along with another “jeep” [rockie] James Hinder from Swan River, Manitoba. Reunited they were all sent to the aircraft carrier HMCS Puncher. They were transported to Scotland to await the completion of HMCS Warrior slated for completion 24 January, 1946 and sail for Canadian April.

There was some talk about all three staying in the Navy after the war but not decided on.
